Abbott ElementaryTyler James Williams has taught fans and journalists the art of kissing and No narration.

The hit ABC comedy in which Williams plays Gregory Eddie aired its Season 3 finale last Wednesday (May 22) and: REVELATION – he and Janine Teagues of Quinta Brunson finally kiss. However, Williams had misled fans during an April appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Showduring which he said, “I don’t necessarily want to see them together.”

In an interview with TV line, the outlet noted how the actor had claimed to prioritize Janine and Gregory’s “platonic love” over a romantic relationship, citing the aforementioned interview. In response, Williams revealed that he, in fact, “was lying.”

“I knew what the ending was and I was fooled,” he explained with a laugh. “They kept asking me what was going on with Janine and Gregory, and I was like, ‘Uhhh, they should be friends.’ “No, I’ve been waiting to get to this moment as much as everyone else.”

Citing the difficulty of keeping the kiss a secret “in a world full of spoilers,” she joked that she’s “one of those people who has a hard time hiding what’s on my face.” Still, he’s “really excited to explore where they’re going, because for a long time, it’s been kind of stop-start.”

Williams also spoke to DECIDER about the kiss, noting that the magical moment “felt super good” and that they had “talked about that scene because it felt like two weeks.”

When Jugo Mobile’s Nicole Gallucci addressed the topic of Williams’ coy comments and whether her feelings about Gregory and Janine’s relationship had “changed,” she said she “feels”[s] as if that were the story we have been telling up to this point.”

“We continue to put obstacles in their way, which forces them to look at the other person from a non-romantic perspective,” he explained, in part. “I think we’ve seen changes in Gregory’s character as her jealousy arises, but at the end of the day, he still has to choose to work with Janine and support her as a couple first, before becoming a romantic partner.”

Fortunately, fans can see more of Janine and Gregory in season 4, which ABC renewed in February. However, in terms of what we can expect from their relationship after the Abbott Elementary In the end, Williams told Jugo Mobile, “I think the biggest provocation I can give you is that this is not an answer.”

“This actually raises more questions,” he added. “I think people will initially see it as an answer. But when we really sit down and think about it, we have to explore all of these questions. And this is not definitive. The show doesn’t end here. If anything, it seems like it’s just getting started.”

Abbott Elementary is streaming on Hulu.
