Robert Lewandowski is enjoying a superb campaign as Barcelona look to battle back into the La Liga title race.
Recent slips from their rivals have seen Hansi Flick’s charges move up into third place in the rankings and just two points behind leaders Real Madrid.
Barcelona have been paired with Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey semifinals with a spot already assured in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 knockouts.
Lewandowski’s goals have been central to Flick’s first season in charge with the pair reunited after winning a string of trophies together at Bayern Munich.
The Poland international won the the La Liga title and the Golden Boot in his debut 2022/23 season at Barcelona, with 23 league goals – and despite scoring 19 last season – he lost out in the top scorer race as Barcelona lost their title to Real Madrid.
The 36-year-old has stepped up a gear in 2024/25, with 19 already scored in La Liga as the current top scorer ahead of Kylian Mbappe, and 31 in all competitions.
His form has removed Barcelona’s lingering concerns over a performance level drop-off, after turning 36 in August, and his contract extension is all set.

Lewandowski signed a four-year contract in Barcelona after joining from Bayern Munich ahead of the 2022/23 season.
However, that agreement included a clause to cancel his deal before its expiry in June 2026, if certain criteria were not met.
The small print indicated a clause which allowed Barcelona to release him from his contract this summer if he did not play over 60% of games in 2024/25.
That includes all competitions with the striker required to complete at least 45 minutes to qualify for a game appearance.
Lewandowski has started 21 of Barcelona’s 24 La Liga games so far, and he will pass the 60% threshold against Rayo Vallecano on February 15, as per Marca.
His tally of 90 goals in 128 games means all parties are more than happy to continue their bond into 2025/26. However, the structured agreement means his wages will continue to reduce year-by-year, with a drop to £21.6m ($27.1m).
