Team USA Canada head coach Jesse Marsch returns to the United States for an international friendly against his home country as the two nations face off in Kansas City on Saturday.
After being passed over for the USMNT coaching job a few years earlier, Marsch joined Canada just a month before the Copa America and led the Reds to the semifinals of the CONMEBOL competition this summer.
Gregg Berhalter was fired following the disappointment of the US national team and reportedly brought in Mauricio Pochettino, but the new manager will not be brought in in time to take over for the September friendlies. The US will be led by interim manager Mikey Varas for this match and the next one against New Zealand.
These two teams now face each other for the first time since the quarter-finals of the 2023 Gold Cup, where the United States qualified on penalties.

The USMNT is without a few key players due to injuries. Sergino Dest continues to recover from his torn ACL and will be out for some time, and Antonee Robinson is not on the list to rest.
