Manchester City are bracing for a busy week as they face a hearing into 115 alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules.

The reigning champions, chasing a historic fifth consecutive Premier League title, could be in serious trouble with potential sanctions ranging from a points deduction to expulsion from the league.

High-stakes hearing begins Monday

From next week, the club will be placed under the microscope as the Premier League investigates allegations of financial rule breaches spanning from 2009 to 2018.

The charges relate to allegations of inaccurate financial reporting and breaches of league regulations. City have denied any wrongdoing, with club officials keen to clear their name.

In February 2023, the City expressed surprise at the accusations, stating: “The Club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent commission, to impartially examine the full body of compelling evidence that exists in support of its position.”

Despite the gravity of the matter, City fans remain hopeful that their club will weather this storm as they have done on the pitch.

But with a points deduction looming over their current title challenge, it looks like Pep Guardiola’s men may have more than their rivals to fear this season.
