After spending the past seven-plus seasons as the face of the franchise for the Atlanta Hawks, Trae Young will now continue his career as a member of the Washington Wizards.

After several weeks of speculation and rumors, Young was traded to the Wizards in exchange for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert.

Young leaves the Hawks as the franchise’s all-time leader in assists and made 3-point field goals, and he’s sixth all-time in points in Hawks history. Now though, it’s time to turn the page.

Trae Young will play against the Hawks as a member of the Wizards twice in February

We might never know exactly how Young truly feels about being traded away from the only organization he’s known during his professional career, but we do know that players are often extremely motivated to ball out against their former franchise when given an opportunity.

Even if they’re not actually angry, players like to send a message to the team that decided that they were expendable. So, that got us thinking. When will Young get an opportunity to author a revenge game against Atlanta?

The Hawks and Wizards have already played against each other twice this season, but fear not, they still have two more matchups on the season schedule. So, Young won’t have to wait too long for a crack at revenge against Atlanta. In fact, he’ll get two consecutive opportunities.

The Hawks will host the Wizards for back-to-back games in Atlanta on Feb. 24 and Feb. 26.

Fans eager to see what Young might have in store for his former franchise will want to go ahead and circle those dates on the calendar now.

Given the fact that the Wizards sit 14th in the standings in the Eastern Conference and are 16 games under .500, we can probably count out a potential playoff series between Washington and Atlanta this season, but maybe there will be one sometime in the future.
