It’s a new weekend in Destiny 2, which means Xur is back. The shady vendor is waiting to sell you a new Exotic or two from the looter-shooter’s vast arsenal.
The Final Shape has arrived, bringing with it a brand new expansion for Bungie’s looter shooter. Along with exciting new Exotics, the Prismatic subclass, and the Pathfinder system, Bungie has also introduced a rework for Xur.
As before, Xur returns to Destiny 2 every week to offer Exotic weapons and new Exotic armor as well as his exclusive Exotic Cipher quest. However, he now offers additional services, has a ranking system, and sells a much wider range of gear for purchase.
The Xur rework is meant to make players want to see Xur again. Whether it’s successful, only time will tell. Either way, you’ll want to pay him a visit to see what’s on sale this week.
Where is Xur today?
From August 16 to 20, Xur can be found in the Tower Bazaar, in a small alley to the right of the Ramen Shop. His rework in The Final Shape made this Xur’s permanent home, meaning the exotic vendor will no longer be moving every week.
BungieXur now has a permanent spawn point in the Tower Bazaar.

Xur Rank Rewards
Since The Final Shape, Xur can now be ranked up to earn additional rewards. To rank up Xur, simply spend Strange Coins on his weekly offerings.
By improving Xur’s rank, you can earn the following rewards:
- Rank 4: Enhancement Core (x7) or Enhancement Core (x3)*
- Rank 7: Enhancement Prism (x3) or Enhancement Prism (x1)*
- Rank 10: Exotic Engram (x2)
- Rank 13: Ascendant Shard (x1) or Enhancement Core (x5)*
- Rank 16: Ascending Alloy (x1) or Enhancement Prism (x2)*
- Reset Rank: Exotic Figure (x1)
*Alternate reward only available after the first reset of each act.
BungieXur now has a ranking system that rewards Guardians for purchasing its gear and services.
When will Xur return?
Xur has respawned and will remain there until the weekly reset on August 20th. Agent Nine disappears every Tuesday upon reset and will not return before next Friday (August 23), when he appears and grants you new Exotic and Legendary gear.
While Xur’s weapon and armor selection changes every week, he always has an Exotic Cipher quest available for players to complete (unless they already have an active one in their inventory that needs to be completed).
The exact process for completing the quest may vary, but it involves completing several activities including Strikes, Crucible, Gambit, and the Exotic Mission Rotator. If you want to collect Ancient Exotic Weapons from the Exotic Kiosk, you must complete this quest every week.
