One of the biggest additions to Industry Season 3 tells the story of a new Pierpoint graduate named Sweetpea Golightly (Miriam Petche). We first meet this ridiculously named character when Yasmin (Marisa Abela) arrives at the office early enough to spot Sweetpea in the middle of filming a TikTok for her many, many friends. many Followers. Sweetpea’s desk on the trading floor even comes complete with a ring light, for photo-perfect video calls.
However, because this is HBO, IndustrySweetpea Golightley is so much more than just a Gen Z cliché. In just one episode, she establishes herself as a driven, intelligent, sassy, and self-aware inpidual. Industry Season 3 continues, and Sweetpea, more often than not, quietly asserts herself as the smartest person in the room.

“I don’t want to say that she was the inspiration for the character, but people like her. Molly-Mae Hague“They have a really intense work ethic and drive, almost to a Thatcherite level of shamelessness in terms of wanting to make money,” Mickey Down said. “It’s something that Gen Z has over Millennials. They’re not ashamed to say they want to be successful.”
“For someone who is inside the financial ecosystem, this makes perfect sense. It’s almost like an 80s model of what it’s like to be in one of those places.”
If the unabashedly ambitious cast members of Island of love Inspired the vibe of IndustryThe most recent graduate of, her name… Sweet pea — came from a completely different British TV show.
“Sweetpea, in giving it that name, simply borrowed it from Black viper“Konrad Kay said. “Because, you know, there’s Captain Darling. So, whenever you hear someone say Sweetpea in a serious tone, or when someone is angry and uses her name, it’s immediately funny.”
In just the Industry In the Season 3 premiere, we hear Yasmin and Eric (Ken Leung) grunt Mrs. Golightly’s first name, and it’s actually pretty funny because of how absurd it sounds.
Down also explained that they expected Sweetpea, like all of her characters, to be “nuanced,” but a big part of what makes her so compelling is Miriam Petche’s performance.
“On the site, you know, if you’re sending a bio to a casting director that says ‘Gen Z TikToker, working in the financial industry,’ it’s like, well, that’s going to be a stereotype,” Down said.
“You have to believe that this person has incredible financial knowledge, is incredibly ambitious, is funny, has all these extra jobs, has a TikTok account. And you have to believe all of that at the same time. That alchemy only exists and can happen because of Miriam’s performance.”
What’s even more impressive about Miriam Petche’s performance is that Down revealed she was still in drama school. At the town hall —When she was elected.
“Miriam had to do a lot of things,” he said. “It’s her first experience, actually. We’re very proud.”
