Before he was the stoic sailor Alyn from Hull on HBO House of the DragonAbubakar Salim was winning over genre fans as the fatherly android known as “Father” in the late, brilliant Max movie. Raised by WolvesThe Ridley Scott-produced sci-fi show dazzled viewers with incredible visuals, crazy plot twists, and phenomenal performances from stars Amanda Collin, Travis Fimmel, Niamh Algar, and the aforementioned Salim.
However, Raised by Wolves was one of several Max shows that were removed and purged from the service during the merger with Warner Bros. Discovery. Today, the only place you can watch the imaginative show is on Tube reruns, though the fandom is still hungry for more. And Abubakar Salim has a bold plan to take it away. Namely, he wants his own video game company, Surgent Studiosmake a Raised by Wolves videogame.
As Jugo Mobile was wrapping up our recent House of the Dragon-Talk related to Salim, the fate of Raised by Wolves emerged.
“I think there is a lot to be done with that program,” Salim said. “It could [come back]You know, and that’s the thing, that’s why I’m always talking to you. [Ridley Scott’s production company] Scott Free and the team.”
“Guys, I have an idea. I would love to make it into a video game. I said, ‘Bring it on. ’”
Abubakar Salim is not only an actor, but also an entrepreneur. He is the CEO and founder of the aforementioned Surgent Studios, a film and video game company that has just released its first game, Kenzera’s Tales: ZAUthrough EA Originals. Not only that, but Salim is an experienced video game actor, known for voicing Bayek in Assassin’s Creed: Origins. The perspective of a Raised by Wolves The video game makes sense, especially considering the sinister role an actual video game plays in Season 2!
Raised by Wolves Creator and showrunner Aaron Guzikowski told Jugo Mobile in 2022 that he planned to continue working on the story in some capacity regardless of its fate on Max.
“I just work on this continuously,” Guzikowski said. “My plan is to tell this story until the day someone stops me. So every day I get up in the morning and I keep putting the pieces together and trying to figure things out and figure them out.”
“Hopefully we will get the chance to do the whole project, but if not, I will find another way to do it. I will draw it and it will take me about 30 years.”
For now, however, Abubakar Salim is focused on House of the Dragonwhere he “dies” to have a scene with the ex Raised by Wolves co-star, Amanda Collin, who was introduced as Lady Jeyne Arryn in season 2.
“Amanda is amazing. I remember when I was here filming and she came up to me, and it’s so beautiful to see Amanda. She’s a joy, man. And it was a shame with her. Raised by Wolves “Because I really enjoyed that show mainly because of the people and I think it’s really nice to be reunited with them. I just wish they would all come back, you know?”
“I will have to talk to [casting director] Kate Rhodes James and I said, “Hey, can we just, you know, maybe?”
Whether it’s an original video game or a channeling of the Raised by Wolves Thrown upon the House of the Dragon, Father is in it.
