The San Francisco 49ers have gotten back one of their biggest assets. After a “hold” period that lasted throughout training camp and the preseason, the 49ers have reached an agreement with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. The 2023 All-Pro gets a four-year extension worth $120 million, by Ian Rapoport.
It’s a big payday for Aiyuk, 26, who receives $76 million guaranteed with $47 million coming by April 1, 2025.
Rapoport called the deal “huge.”
Aiyuk I missed training on Thursday afternoonWhile 49ers general manager John Lynch has given no indication that talks between management and Aiyuk’s agent, Ryan Williams, are progressing. “When you have some of your best players, two of them in particular, not on the field, and that’s your job, you take a lot of pride in that,” Lynch said of Aiyuk and Star left tackle Trent Williams.
“We’ll find a way to put the best team together and I’m really happy with where this team is and what we have to offer. The guys that are here are working really hard. We have a lot of affection for the two guys that aren’t and we’ll continue to work on that to try to fix that.”
It’s now a done deal. At least in Aiyuk’s case. Williams has yet to report to the 49ers all offseason as he also looks to negotiate his contract. The amount of guaranteed money Aiyuk received in his deal will have a big impact on those negotiations.
After a long offseason that saw Brandon Aiyuk ask for a new contract, ultimately demand a trade and negotiate with multiple suitors, the 49ers finally have their top receiver in the locker room.
Now it’s Williams’ turn.
