Victor Wembanyama is exceeding all reasonable expectations so far in his rookie season. The No. 1 overall pick in last year’s NBA Draft is averaging 20.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and a team-high 3.2 blocks per game.

To find a plan to accumulate young talent, San Antonio should look no further than Oklahoma City. Thunder general manager Sam Presti has assembled a young core, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren, that has turned OKC into a legitimate contender.
Gilgeous-Alexander has proven that last year’s scoring outburst was no aberration, once again averaging over 31 points per game. And after missing all of last year with an injury, Holmgren has become a do-it-all force in his rookie season.
This will be the second of four meetings between the two teams this season. The Thunder won the first meeting, 123-87, on November 14. Gilgeous-Alexander scored a game-high 28 points while Wembanyama was held to eight points on 4-of-15 shooting.
