Today’s Best NBA Prop Bets: Thursday, February 1
Jalen Brunson Points: OVER 23.5 (-105)
Brunson has proven in pickup games that he deserves to be an All-Star, and we maintain that he should have been last season as well. The Knicks have won eight straight games and nine of their last 10, and Brunson Burner has his fingerprints all over that streak of success.
Expect more of the same tonight against the Pacers, who regularly allow teams to enjoy scoring bonanzas. The Celtics scored a franchise-record 85 points in the first half against Indy the other night, and that was before Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton reached his minutes restriction and had to be removed from the game.
With Julius Randle out for at least the next two weeks due to a shoulder dislocation, Brunson should continue attempting 22-25 shots as he has in three straight games and six of the last seven. He averaged 28.9 points per game in the month of January and there is no way we are betting against this guy for the foreseeable future.
Donovan Mitchell triples: MORE than 2.5 triples (-105)
The Cavs have won 10 of their last 11 games and Mitchell has been the main catalyst during that stretch. During that span, he hit 35 three-pointers on a whopping 104 attempts. And Cleveland isn’t just beating teams: this team has been blowing out their opponents’ doors. The Cavs’ average margin of victory in their last 10 wins is 20.2.
Now JB Bickerstaff and his boys will travel to Memphis to face an 18-29 Grizzlies team that has somehow been worse at home (5-16) and can’t get out of its own way defensively. Memphis allows opponents to average 13.2 three-pointers on 37.9 percent shooting, the seventh-highest outside shooting percentage allowed in the NBA. Crush the OVER here.
Tobias Harris Points: MORE than 1.5 three-pointers (-115)
The Sixers have lost four games in a row and Philadelphia fans are starting to worry. Reigning MVP Joel Embiid has already been ruled out for this one, so Nick Nurse will need Tobias Harris to take a major step forward tonight.
Harris has looked very good in the last five games he has played and Embiid has not. Most recently, he dropped 32 points and 37 points, respectively, against Atlanta and Sacramento while JoJo was out. His shooting touch has been precise, making multiple three-pointers in four of his last eight games.
The Jazz have allowed 14.1 3-pointers per game (third most in the NBA) on 38 percent shooting from downtown (sixth highest), so Harris should be able to crush this OVER by the end of the third frame in what Sixers fans would probably consider a must-win game.
