Lisandro Martínez suffered another injury and could be out for almost two months following a challenge with Vladimir Coufal in Manchester United’s 3-0 win over West Ham.
Martínez only returned to the team in January after his second metatarsal surgery. The initial blow came during United’s Europa League clash last April against Sevilla.
The Argentine defender recovered but reinjured the same bone against Arsenal in September and was forced to undergo surgery.

Martínez fell to the ground clutching his knee after being involved in a challenge with Coufal in the 65th minute.
His teammates surrounded him as he sought treatment from the medical team, and United fans showed their support with chants of “Argentina, Argentina, Argentina!”, indicating that they knew the seriousness of the problem.
After continuing briefly, he was replaced by Raphael Varane a few minutes later, and walked down the tunnel to more chants of support.
Erik ten Hag spoke to the press after his team’s victory over the Hammers and said it was a “personal disaster” for the 26-year-old defender.

The Dutchman signed the defender from Ajax for £57m and he has arguably been United’s best signing since his arrival.

When will Martínez return to Man United?
The good news is that The Athletic has reported that Martínez will not need surgery for his right knee injury.
The bad news? He is expected to be out for around eight weeks and will miss the Manchester derby in March.
The eight-week return schedule could see the defender return for two important games to start April when United travel to Chelsea before hosting Liverpool.
