Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is known for many different things. Some are obvious, like his football excellence or his relationship with Taylor Swift, a story he has taken the NFL by storm since the couple began dating.
Some are more obscure, like the nickname Kelce was given by his brother, and Eagles center, Jason Kelce.
Here’s a look at what you should know about Travis’ nickname “Big Yeti.”
Why does Jason Kelce call Travis Kelce ‘Big Yeti’?
In addition to his football prowess, Kelce also shined on the basketball court. That’s where he earned the nickname “Big Yeti.”
“Yet, they called you ‘Big Yeti,'” Jason said on the New Heights podcast hosted by the Kelce Brothers.
“You guys haven’t seen the Yeti come out of here,” Travis responded. “You don’t want to see the Yeti come out.”
“When Trav was in Cincinnati, he played a lot of basketball on the playground,” Jason said. “And anyone who’s ever played basketball knows there are jerseys and masks.”
“Shirts and furs, dog, that’s the only way to separate the teams,” Travis responded. “He had a big beard, he had long hair. He had hair on his chest, on his back, on his arms and on his legs. He’s just a big Yeti out there, man. All the friends on the court called me ‘Big One.’ “. Yeti.”
The nickname came up strongly again in the team’s game against the Bills, where Jason Kelce was seen in Buffalo wearing a jersey that had the name on it.
