Warriors superstar Stephen Curry has scored 60 points twice in his career. The first was a virtuoso performance in front of his hometown fans and the second was an iconic performance in Atlanta that ended with him giving away his jersey to another icon, Lindsay Lohan.

While there is no doubt that Curry’s greatness transcends sports, many were surprised to learn that he was friends with Lohan and her husband, Bader Shammas. Things started to make more sense when the world learned that Curry’s wife, Ayesha, and Lohan were going to co-star in the Netflix original film, Irish Wish.

It turns out that there was a deep friendship that preceded the working relationship with Ayesha Curry and Lohan, who almost immediately became best friends after meeting in Dubai.

Ahead of their film debut together, learn more about the friendship between Lohan and Ayesha Curry that has connected two power couples in the worlds of sports and entertainment.

Lindsay Lohan’s relationship with Stephen and Ayesha Curry, explained

Lohan and Ayesha Curry forged a friendship through a mutual connection. Lohan explained how things came about in an interview with PEOPLE.

“We met through a mutual friend, chef Michael Mina, who told my husband, ‘Lindsay and Ayesha need to meet. Then Ayesha came to Dubai and we met at Mina restaurant.”

Both Ayesha Curry and Lohan explained that the two connected instantly, losing track of time as they bonded over dinner.

“It was crazy to meet someone that I got along so well with, and we had so many common interests right away, so it was cool,” Curry said of the formation of his friendship with Lohan.

Since Ayesha Curry and Lohan became fast friends, it didn’t take long for Stephen Curry to get close to Shammas. Lohan and Shammas asked the Currys to be godparents to their son, Luai, who was born in July 2023.

When Stephen Curry gave his game-worn jersey to Lohan and Shammas in Atlanta, he wrote a message to Luai that said, “Your godparents love you!” along with his autograph.

As their friendship blossomed into what it is today, Lohan was instrumental in bringing Ayesha Curry back to acting in Irish Wish. Before marrying Stephen Curry, Ayesha notably starred in episodes of Hannah Montana and Disney’s Good Luck Charlie.

If Ayesha Curry and Lohan’s on-camera chemistry is as magnetic as their friendship suggests, Irish Wish could be the first of many times they share the screen.
