Do you want to enjoy the content of your favorite applications on a larger screen? Forget about complicated wiring setups and delayed screen mirroring. A handy device called Chromecast offers a better solution.

If you have your hands on one of these powerful digital media players, you may be wondering how to enable it on your TV. Here’s how to set up Chromecast on a Samsung smart TV and start streaming right away.
Is my Samsung TV compatible with Chromecast?
Many popular smart TVs from brands like Sony, Toshiba, Philips, etc. They come with Chromecast already integrated. Samsung TV users will need to go a step further and purchase a dongle to get Chromecast features on their devices. The good news is that Chromecast is available for almost any TV, even older, non-smart models. As long as your Samsung TV has an HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) port, you can connect this streaming device and get the most out of your TV.
If you have an older Samsung TV, Chromecast can add a variety of functionality to your device. You can use it to stream any type of content via mobile or web apps, or mirror your Google Chrome screen on your TV. The Chromecast may still be worth it for the seamless experience it offers, even if your smart TV already has some sort of screen mirroring solution built in. In 2022, more than 1,000 apps are compatible with Chromecast, making it easy to cast media to your TV screen.
How to set up Chromecast on a Samsung Smart TV
Setting up Chromecast on your TV will only take a few minutes. Here you will find everything you will need in the process.
- A Samsung Smart TV with HDMI port
- A Chromecast device and its components
- Another smart device, such as an Android phone or iPhone
- a wifi connection
In 2022 you will be able to find two Chromecast models on the market: the third generation of Chromecast and the Chromecast with Google TV. The setup process is almost identical for both models, with one difference. You will also need to pair your new remote control in the case of Chromecast with Google TV.
Step one: configure your device
So, you took your Chromecast out of its box. For Chromecast 3, you must have the device, a USB cable, and an adapter in your hands. If you bought Chromecast with Google TV, you’ll also find a remote control and two batteries in the package.
Connect your Chromecast 3 or Chromecast with Google TV to your Samsung TV as follows.
- Locate your TV’s HDMI port by checking the back of the device. You will usually find it on the right side (when viewed from the front).

- Power your Chromecast using the USB cable. Connect one end of the USB cable to the device and the other to the adapter that came with it, then connect the adapter to a power source.
- Connect the HDMI cable from your Chromecast to your TV.

- Turn on your TV and change the input source to the correct HDMI channel.

Most Samsung smart TVs come with at least two HDMI ports: a standard HDMI and an HDMI ARC. Any available HDMI port will work with Chromecast.
Note: If you have Chromecast 3 or an earlier generation of the base model, you can skip the power adapter. Simply plug the USB into a USB port on your TV to supply power to your device. Chromecast with Google TV and the discontinued Chromecast Ultra are more demanding models, so connecting them to the USB port on your TV won’t work.
Step Two: Pair Your Remote

- The app will now search for nearby devices.

- Select your Chromecast from the list. You can check the name of your Chromecast in the corner of your TV screen to make sure you’re choosing the right device.

- Press “Next.”

- Finish the pairing process in one of the following ways.
- On Chromecast 3, you’ll see a code appear on your TV and phone or tablet screen. If they correspond to each other, tap “Yes.”
