Knowing the precise location of your family and friends provides valuable peace of mind. The Life360 app offers exactly that. But first, you or your family and friends will need to join a circle. Fortunately, this is a relatively simple process on multiple devices.
This article will explain how to join a circle in Life360.
Join a circle in Life360
After you have installed the app, which is available for iOS and Android users, you must create an account, which will include your email address and mobile phone number.
You’ll then be directed to the main screen, which includes a map showing your location and, once you join, the location of the people in your circle.
- At the top of the screen, you will see a tab representing the “Circle Changer.” By clicking on it, you will be able to join a circle.

- But first, a circle member must send you an invite code, since circles in the app are member-based. Please note that the code expires in 72 hours.

- Once you enter the code, you will be a legitimate member and will be able to see all members, their current location, and a location history.
The extent of what you will be able to see depends on your subscription plan.
How to invite someone to join your circle in Life360
Once you have created an account, you will be directed to the main screen. This presents a map showing your location and then the location of the people in your circle that you have joined.
To invite someone to join your circle, follow these steps:
- At the top of the screen is the “Circle Selector” where you can create your circle. You will also be asked to create an invitation code to send to potential new members.

- In the upper left corner, you will see a settings banner.

- In “Circle Management”, you will be able to add new members to the circle.

- Once they enter the invitation code, they will be added automatically.
How to switch between circles
As you may have guessed, there is no set number of circles you can join. You can have a circle dedicated to your family, another to your friends, a third to your hobby group, etc.
Better yet, it’s relatively easy to switch between these groups:
- Go to the top to “Circle Changer”.

- Choose the circle you want to see right now.

That’s all about it.
How to remove a member from your circle
Unfortunately, people grow apart and you may not want them to be part of your circle anymore. To remove them, simply follow these steps:
- In the “Circle Picker”, choose the circle you had in mind and go to the “Settings” option in the top left corner.

- Press “Circle Management”.

- Choose “Remove Circle Members.”
This is a simple way to keep your circle updated and organized.
How to get out of a circle
If you no longer want to be part of a group and no longer want to keep the members of a specific circle updated or know their movements.
You can easily get out of a circle:
- Go to the “Circle Changer” and choose the circle you want to leave. At the top left, choose “Settings.”

- Press “Circle Management”.

- At the bottom of the menu, you will find “Exit Circle.”

- The app will ask you to confirm that you are sure you want to leave.
And just like that, you are no longer part of the circle.
Benefits of being in a circle
You may be wondering about the benefits of using Life360 and being a member of the circle.
- Accurate location of all members at all times
Imagine a storm is coming and your family members haven’t gotten home yet. Instead of calling each and every one of them, you can check with a few clicks if they are nearby or if they are already somewhere safe, like a friend’s house.
This example may seem extreme, but the app is also useful in everyday life. It lets you see if your partner or kids are about to arrive, so you can plan your day before they knock on the door.
- A location history for each member.
You can see the places that members of your circle visit most frequently. Maybe your friends have discovered an interesting bar or a well-equipped gym. Different subscription plans offer different history lengths, but we’ll talk more about that in the next section.
- The inpidual driver reports
This benefit can be helpful for families with children who are just starting to drive. You can see how far they traveled and where, at what speed, or if they had to slow down quickly at any point. However, this type of feature may require a monthly subscription.
- The SOS alert
This alert allows you to inform your circle that you need immediate help. A time-saving feature: you won’t have to call them inpidually to explain the situation and ask for help.
As you can see, the app offers more than just the current location and can be used on various groups of people, not just couples with children.
Subscription plans
The app is free to download for both iOS and Android users. However, there is a $5 monthly subscription plan for those users who want to take full advantage of its features.
The things that both plans offer are location sharing, estimated time of arrival, battery monitoring, and help alert.
There are other features of the app that may seem attractive:
- A 30-day location history instead of two days
- Unlimited place alerts, while you would otherwise receive notifications from only two places
- Inpidual driving reports, in addition to the family driving report offered in both cases
- Priority customer support is offered to members who choose this option.
Whichever option you decide to choose, it is sure to have a constructive impact on your daily life and give you peace of mind knowing that information about your loved ones is just a click away.
The power of circles
The fast pace of today’s life makes tracking apps practically essential. Life360 allows you to create circles so you know where your loved ones are, where they are going, and most importantly, if they are safe. Plus, you can see their favorite places and know if they are in a dangerous situation.
