Investigation Discovery’s new docuseries Silence on the set: The dark side of children’s television explores the toxic culture behind some of Nickelodeon’s most popular shows from the late ’90s and early ’00s. The series premiered to great acclaim on March 17 and has since been watched by more than 16 million viewers across the chain, Max and Dicevery+.
Following the release of the initial four episodes, ID returned for a fifth episode featuring never-before-seen footage from the series, as well as new interviews from journalist Soledad O’Brien with subjects Drake Bell, Giovonnie Samuels,and former child actor Shane Lyons.

There will be a Silence on set Season 2?
So far, Investigation Discovery has not announced plans to continue. Silence on set, despite the instant success of the documentary series. However, the directors of the series are open to doing more.
In an interview with The Hollywood ReporterDirectors and executive producers Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz say there is “more to say” about how child actors were treated on Nickelodeon sets.
“We would be happy to spend four more hours on this topic,” Robertson said. THR. “There is definitely more to say. But listen, it was really important to us to offer those whose narratives, whose stories and experiences had previously been relegated to the shadows, the opportunity to bring their stories out of the shadows to center stage and into the spotlight.”
On the topic of Bell getting a lot of screen time, compared to the other interview subjects, Robertson continues: “Unfortunately, we couldn’t give everyone 45 minutes, or we would have had a 12-hour series. I think it would be wonderful to continue the exploration. “We would love to hear from more people who worked in this ecosystem and we would like to share experiences.”
So, it looks like the door is open for another season of Silence on set. Interested viewers will just have to wait and see what ID decides to do next.
