Dominic Sessa, the breakout star of ‘The Holdovers,’ will play Anthony Bourdain in the biopic ‘TONY’

Nearly six years after his shocking death rocked Hollywood, late chef Anthony Bourdain is getting his own biopic.

Deadline reports that The Remnants Star Dominic Sessa has been cast to play Bourdain in the upcoming biopic. Tonyfrom Star Thrower Entertainment, the same production company behind King Richard and No one will save you. The outlet also reports that A24 is in negotiations to acquire the film.

Details about Anthony Bourdain’s biopic are still a secret, however, we do know that Blackberry Director Matt Johnson will be in charge of directing the film.

Bourdain committed suicide in June 2018 while filming his cooking series for CNN. Unknown Parts.

The celebrity chef rose to fame after his successful memoir in 2000. Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underworld “He tore down the fourth wall that separated the restaurant floor from the kitchen,” as DECIDER’s Meghan O’Keefe wrote after his passing.

The revealing memoir launched her career as a television personality who used her platform to highlight the best underrepresented foods, chefs and restaurants around the world. She then went on to host Anthony Bourdain: No reservations and The scale on the Travel Channel and later on CNN Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.

If the rumors are true, Tony marks one of the few projects that Sessa has been involved in since his outstanding performance in The Remnants.

According The GuardianSessa landed her debut role after her high school drama teacher suggested she audition when the film’s casting director was looking at her school, the prestigious Deerfield Academy, as a possible filming location. Sessa had just started her senior year at the time.

The Remnants The film stars Sessa, a surly teenager who stays at school over the holidays, forcing a teacher (Paul Giamatti) to basically babysit him. Da’Vine Joy Randolph also plays the academy’s head chef, a performance for which she won an Academy Award.

It is unclear when production will begin. TonyFor now, the young actor will star Now you see me 3scheduled for release in 2025.
