Zoom is one of the most streamlined and easy-to-use meeting apps available. It works on different platforms and allows for more than a few customizations. Naturally, one of the first things you’ll want to do is change the language to suit your business.
This can be done with just a few clicks and Zoom also allows you to switch between different languages. If there is a problem, you cannot change the language in the Zoom mobile app from the app itself. But don’t worry, this article shows you how to fix this limitation.
Before you start
Let’s assume you’ve already installed the app and logged in to the service. Otherwise, you can change the language as soon as you activate your profile via the Zoom confirmation email.
You get the app on your smartphone or desktop, provide your credentials, and follow the link within the email to your profile. Once on the profile page, scroll or scroll down to Language, click “Edit” and select your preferred language.
This is also the most general way to change the language in Zoom. And if you prefer to use Zoom via the desktop app, be sure to update your system before installing the app.
Change the language in the desktop app
For the purposes of this article, Jugo Mobile tested the steps on macOS, but similar steps apply to Windows and other operating systems. Therefore, he will not have any difficulties in changing the language with this guide.
Step 1
Navigate to the Zoom app icon on your computer and right-click on the app to reveal a pop-up window.
Step 2
Hover over “Change Languages” to display all available languages for the app.

Click on the language you want to use and the app will restart to update the settings with the indicated language.
Note: Zoom currently supports the following languages:
- English
- Japanese
- Spanish
- French
- Chinese (traditional and simplified)
- Korean
- Portuguese
- Russian
- German
Change Zoom language through a browser
The browser method is simple and requires no more actions than the previous one. Also, this is a useful trick to overcome the fact that you can’t change the language through the mobile app. This is what you should do:
Step 1
If you are logged in through a browser, click “My Account” in the upper right corner of the screen. Otherwise, select “Sign In” when searching for zoom.us, provide your credentials, and then navigate to your profile.
As a side note, Zoom allows you to quickly create a profile and log in through Google or Facebook. This method does not involve activation via a confirmation email.
Step 2
Once inside your profile, scroll down a bit and click “Edit” on the far right of the Language option. Here you can also preview your current language.
Step 3
Choose your preferred language from the drop-down list and confirm your choice.
Note: The changes should automatically sync across all your devices. Otherwise, restart the app or sign out and sign in again. This is useful if you didn’t update your system before installing Zoom.
How to change the Zoom language in a mobile app
The Zoom app picks up the language of your smartphone and uses it by default. To change the language of the app without accessing your Zoom profile, you must change the language of the smartphone.
iOS
Launch Settings, scroll down to General and tap it to see more options. Select “Language & Region”, tap “Add Language” and choose one from the list.
You will need to set that language as the primary preferred language in the “Preferred Language Order” list. Now, restart the Zoom app and make sure the changes take effect.
Android
Go to Settings, choose System, and tap “Language & input.” Then, select “Language & Region” and press “Add a language.”
While you’re at it, also select the Region and long-press the two horizontal lines to move the selected language to the top. Depending on the Android device you are using, the verbiage and menu location may be different.
But the language settings are the same, so you shouldn’t have any difficulties making the change with this guide. If the problem is that your entire system is now in a different language.
Language interpretation
What’s really cool is that Zoom allows you to hire an interpreter to help you during your meetings and webinars. The option is available on these Zoom plans:

To enable interpretation, you must log in to Zoom through the web portal and follow the indicated path:
Settings > Language Interpretation (in Advanced In Meeting) > Meetings > Schedule a New Meeting
Now, select “Generate automatically” and click the box in front of “Enable language interpretation.” Provide your interpreter credentials and click “Save” when you’re done.

Does Zoom offer a language translation feature?
Although there’s no feature to translate speech for you, Zoom makes it fairly easy for an interpreter to join the call. The meeting creator can designate one or more attendees as interpreters. This will give those people the option to speak on a single line, providing a direct, uninterrupted line of communication to those who need the translation.
If you are using this feature, you will not be able to record interpreter audio and you will not be able to use a personal meeting ID. To invite an interpreter, you will need to use the option to generate a meeting ID.
I accidentally changed the language on Zoom, how do I undo it?
If you’ve ever accidentally changed an app’s language to Mandarin when you only spoke English, it may seem too overwhelming to fix. Fortunately, you can follow the steps above to recover your native language and continue following the location of each setting.
But the quickest and easiest way to get your native language back is to simply uninstall the app and reinstall it. Doing this will give you the option to select the language you want on the first page. Fixed problem.
