Steve Buscemi was walking through Manhattan in broad daylight when he was reportedly punched in the face by a random assailant.
The actor was attacked in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday (May 8), making him the latest victim in a series of unprovoked attacks in New York City.
“Buscemi was assaulted in midtown Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” his publicist said in a statement to cnn. “He is doing well and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, although it is incredibly sad for everyone that this happened to them while they were walking the streets of New York.”
Police were called to the scene around noon last week, according to the NYPD report.
“Upon arrival, officers were informed that an unidentified inpidual struck a 66-year-old man in the face,” the report reads, according to CNN. “EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition for treatment of bruising, swelling and bleeding in the left eye.”
The alleged attacker has not been arrested and an investigation is currently underway. He is described as a “dark-skinned man, wearing a dark-colored baseball-style cap, blue t-shirt, black pants, white sneakers and carrying a backpack.”
Buscemi isn’t the only one in the entertainment business who finds himself on the other side of someone’s fist. Former Real Housewives of New York City Star Bethenny Frankel previously claimed that a stranger also randomly punched her in the face.
Frankel’s claim was made in a since-deleted comment on a TikTok video in which the creator said she was hit by a man while walking home in New York City.
“This is crazy [because] “This happened to me a few months ago, but I was embarrassed to say it,” Frankel wrote, according toPage six. “I was in [Upper West Side]. Crazy. She was recording a video of a bakery.”
