Argentina will try to achieve three successes in as many important tournaments when it travels to the Copa América in the United States.
The world champions began a glorious era by beating Brazil at home in the final of the 2021 tournament, setting the stage for their thrilling march to World Cup glory in Qatar, where they beat France on penalties in the final .
Inspirational captain Lionel Messi will return to try to add another medal to his collection, and coach Lionel Scaloni will once again be tasked with combining youth and experience into a winning formula.
On May 20, Scaloni named a 29-man squad for Argentina’s upcoming friendlies against Ecuador and Guatemala, which also serves as a provisional match for the Copa América. Messi, of course, was included in the list, but there were one or two more surprising decisions.
How many players are there in the Copa América 2024 squads?
Teams have the opportunity to name provisional squads of up to 55 players for pre-tournament training camps and friendly matches. These groups must have a minimum of 35 players and contain at least four goalkeepers.
