Will there be a Abbott ElementarySeason 4 on ABC?
Great news, Abbott Elementary fans! Janine and the rest of our favorite Philadelphia educators will be returning for another school year. less than a week laterAbbott ElementaryFollowing the big premiere of the third season, ABC granted the series an early renewal for the fourth season. The chain announced thatAbbott Elementarywould return for a fourth season during the Winter 2024 Television Critics Association press tour on February 10, with help from William Stanford Davis akaAbbottIt’s Mr. Johnson himself.
The workplace mockumentary “earned a 3.56 rating in adults 18-49 after 35 days of viewing across all platforms, marking the highest season average for an ABC comedy since the 2019-2020 season,” ABC revealed in a press release, noting that the series also ranked as the network’s most successful multi-platform series streaming the next day on Hulu.
As noted in a previous article, once Season 2 concludes in April 2023,AbbottThe writers’ room was scheduled to quickly reopen on May 1 when the Writers Guild of America embarked on what would become a historic 148-day strike. SAG-AFTRA soon followed suit, and with tens of thousands of writers and actors protesting, production on numerous television series and movies, including the beloved ABC comedy, was delayed. The strikes concluded in the fall of 2023, but like many other series, Abbott received a shorter episode order, getting 14 episodes in season 3 instead of the expected 22.
It’s unclear how many episodes season 4 will consist of at this point, but we have an idea of when the new episodes will premiere…
Abbott Elementary Season 4 premiere date: when? Abbott Elementary Return with new episodes?
Although Abbott Elementary Season 4 does not have a premiere date set at this time, we do know that it will premiere on ABC in 2024. The network recently announced its Fall 2024-2025 TV Primetime Schedulerevealing that Abbott Elementary will continue to air on Wednesdays. This season, however, the series will have the honor of premiering after 90-minute episodes of The golden bachelorette partystarring Joan Vassós.
Episodes of the fourth season of Abbott will air Wednesdays from 9:30 pm ET to 10:00 pm ET. Although the exact release date is unknown, Tyler James Williams did shows what fans can expect from the new season.

After Janine and Gregory’s big Season 3 finale kiss, Williams told Jugo Mobile, “I think the biggest tease I can give you is that this is not an answer. This actually raises more questions. I think people will initially see it as an answer. But when we really sit down and think about it, we have to explore all of these questions. And this is not definitive. The show doesn’t end here. If anything, it seems like it’s just getting started.”
If Janine and Gregory’s romance does bloom during the summer, Williams says there will “definitely” be challenges once the school year begins. “The only person who probably really knows what happened is Jacob. Now we have to reveal it to the rest of the school, or maybe not, or maybe keep it a secret. That’s what they say, well, do we try to play so close to the vest? Do we try to simply be professional at work and something else outside? What is that something else outside? Williams explained. “So there are a number of things. Now there are more questions than answers. He doesn’t really answer anything. [Laughs] As I was analyzing the script, I thought, ‘Oh, great moment! This is not an answer! There are more questions!’”
Since the Season 3 premiere, when Philadelphia Eagles players Jalen Hurts, Brandon Graham and Jason Kelce appeared on the show, Abbott Elementary significantly stepped up his guest star game, and Williams doesn’t think the jaw-dropping cameos will stop anytime soon. The actor shared that his most shocking moment from Season 3 was when Bradley Cooper stopped by to film a cold open, but also said that he has high hopes for future guest stars.
“I’ve always liked the idea of Solange coming in, because I love that Gregory interacts with women who make him feel uncomfortable or who imitate him. And I feel like there’s something there. There could be. Whether it’s a cousin or something. Initially, I think I tried to introduce him to Quinta as a sister, but then we established that shortly after Gregory was born, his mother died. But yes, I think she would fulfill Gregory’s family more. We don’t know much about them,” Williams said. “There are so many options. There’s also that native Philly thing: that bringing Will Smith here somewhere would be fun, because he’s actually from Philly. That might be interesting, but I don’t know if Will Smith is Will Smith in our world. “That is something we would have to address.”
