It looks like the Philadelphia 76ers’ patience with Paul George could backfire.

George and the Sixers were seemingly the two sides with the strongest bond when the offseason began, but now nearly the entire group of established stars is off the market. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that George has interest in remaining on the West Coast, multiple reports suggest that Jimmy Butler will remain with the Miami Heat and the New York Knicks were able to retain OG Anunoby. This leaves one name, Brandon Ingram.

The New Orleans Pelicans forward is on the trade block, largely due to disappointing play in the postseason coupled with a necessary overhaul alongside former No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson. If the Sixers hope to compete against the reigning champion Boston Celtics and the new-look Knicks, acquiring a third star to pair alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey is crucial.

While there’s always the possibility that superstar LeBron James declines his player option to seek a new home, Ingram feels like the only plausible option left on the table.
