The Philadelphia 76ers are busy making moves on Saturday morning as they are reportedly waiving center Paul Reed.

Reed served as a backup to former MVP Joel Embiid last season, averaging 7.3 points and 6 rebounds on 54% shooting in 19.4 minutes last season. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on the decision, writing, “The 76ers will waive center Paul Reed, whose contract is nonguaranteed for next season, sources told ESPN.”

The Sixers signed established center Andre Drummond to a two-year deal in free agency, meaning Reed doesn’t leave a void in their rotation. Philadelphia’s management also brought in former Miami Heat forward Caleb Martin, who will likely spend much of his time at power forward. Many believed the GM would pursue a potential trade partner for Reed, but instead, he’s being let go before the 2025 season.
