The Football Association has been forced to make a last-minute change to the man in charge of this weekend’s Community Shield between Manchester United and Manchester City.
Referee John Brooks was due to be the centre-referee for the clash at Wembley on Saturday but has now been replaced just days before the game.
His place will be taken by fellow Premier League referee Jarred Gillett.
Why has the referee changed for Manchester United’s Community Shield clash with Manchester City?
Brooks suffered a minor injury in preparation for the clash, which meant he had to be withdrawn.
Gillett was originally set to be the fourth official for the match but has now been promoted to the main role.
The Community Shield acts as the traditional prelude to the new English season and pits the FA Cup winners, in this case Manchester United, against last season’s Premier League champions.
Manchester City secured their place in the match against their fierce rivals by winning a fourth consecutive EPL title in May.
