Liverpool are on the verge of securing their first signing of the summer transfer window as talks with Valencia for goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili reach the final stages.
All parties involved are keen to finalise the deal this week, with the Georgian international set to remain at Valencia on loan for at least another season.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool and Valencia are in the process of finalising the details of the deal, which could see Mamardashvili move to Merseyside for a reported fee of £34 million (US$44.3m).
Despite being linked with other Premier League clubs such as Newcastle United, it seems Liverpool are now in pole position to sign the 23-year-old goalkeeper.

Mamardashvili, who joined Valencia in 2021, has impressed during his time in La Liga, making 101 appearances and keeping 31 clean sheets. His performances have also earned him 21 caps for Georgia and he has played a crucial role in helping his national team reach the last 16 of Euro 2024.
While Liverpool have a strong goalkeeping team in Alisson Becker and Caoimhin Kelleher, the club are planning for the future. Alisson, who is under contract until 2027, remains the first-choice goalkeeper, but Mamardashvili’s arrival could signal a future transition.
For now, the plan is for Mamardashvili to continue his development in Spain, with a possible move to Anfield next summer.
