The Green Bay Packers have officially found a replacement for Jordan Love.
In recent weeks, Green Bay has been linked to several quarterbacks in its quest for viable insurance behind Love. With Sean Clifford and Michael Pratt failing to have convincing preseason and training camp performances to secure the QB2 role, the pressure was on Green Bay general manager Brian Gutekunst to make a move on the free-agent market for a serviceable replacement.
This decision was taken on Monday.
ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported Monday evening that the Packers traded for quarterback Malik Willis from the Tennessee Titans.
“QB trade: Titans are sending QB Malik Willis to the Packers in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round pick, sources say,” Schefter said. “Willis is likely to back up Jordan Love.”
Willis, 25, was drafted 86th overall by the Titans in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Willis appeared in 11 games for Tennessee over his first two seasons as a backup, though he made three starts during the 2022 season for the Titans.
He leaves Tennessee after throwing 35-66 with zero touchdowns and now joins a Super Bowl contender as the obvious backup quarterback.
