Savinho has been ruled out of Manchester City’s Premier League match against West Ham with a knee injury, manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed.
The Brazilian winger caught the eye with his dazzling skills in City’s opening Premier League wins over Chelsea and Ipswich Town but was unable to feature at the London Stadium.
With Phil Foden also absent through illness, Jack Grealish has been included in the champions’ starting XI.
“He didn’t feel well. He had some problems with his knee and I hope that with 10 days of rest he can recover after the international break,” Guardiola told Sky Sports.

The estimated recovery period suggests Savinho’s injury is not serious. However, he was also forced off the pitch at half-time after impressing in the 2-0 win over Chelsea due to knee discomfort.
“He has a knee problem,” Guardiola said at the time. “He said he knew perfectly well why, he had it in the past. Apparently it’s not a big problem. I hope he’ll be ready for next Saturday.”
Savinho was indeed set to play a major role in the 4-1 defeat to Ipswich, but Guardiola will hope the 20-year-old’s knee problems do not become a theme this campaign.
City have opted not to add another striker to their squad before the transfer window closes, despite Julian Alvarez joining Atletico Madrid and Oscar Bobb breaking his leg in training.
