Chelsea have decided to extend Nicolas Jackson’s contract until 2033.

The Blues rewarded the Senegal international for his fine start to the 2024/25 Premier League season with two goals in three EPL appearances before the September break.

Jackson has scored 14 Premier League goals, and 17 in total, in his debut campaign in English football in 2023/24 and the club have opted against signing a more high-profile striker to provide competition.

The loan departures of Raheem Sterling and Armando Broja have increased Jackson’s goalscoring burden and the club have responded with a show of faith.

His previous contract ran until 2031 but the former Villarreal striker has now committed to Stamford Bridge for the long term, but Enzo Maresca has offered a lukewarm response to the decision.

“The only thing I know is that he’s signing a new contract – I don’t know how many years,” according to reports from BBC Sport.

“I am very happy. Nicolas is doing a fantastic job with us, with and without the ball. He has already scored two goals. [this season].”

Jackson will now travel to international duty in the coming days, with Senegal taking on DR Congo and Mauritania in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, before returning to action for Chelsea at Bournemouth on September 14.
