In a thrilling FA Cup tie at Old Trafford in 2023/24, United won 4-3 at Old Trafford after extra time in a remarkable quarter-final. They then drew 2-2 in a league game that dealt a fatal blow to Liverpool’s lingering title hopes. However, the Reds got their revenge by visiting their rivals’ ground for the first time under new manager Arne Slot.

Klopp’s men, who won the 2020/21 season with 99 points, wrapped up the overall league title campaign with a 20-19 win over United, with Ferguson making good on his famous promise to knock Liverpool “off their perch”.
They are the two most successful teams in English football history, with Arsenal second in the all-time rankings with 13 titles. The Gunners have won more FA Cup trophies than either of the north-west heavyweights, with 14, compared to United’s 12 and Liverpool’s eight.
The Anfield club lead the way in European success, with six European Cup and Champions League wins to United’s three – totals that again make them the two most successful English clubs.
United also won the Europa League in 2016/17, a competition Liverpool won three times in its previous UEFA Cup incarnation in 1972/73, 1975/76 and 2000/01.
The now-defunct European Cup Winners’ Cup also entered Manchester United’s trophy cabinet in 1990/91, while each club has a FIFA Club World Cup each.
Liverpool hold the League Cup (now Carabao Cup) record with 10 wins. Manchester United have won the trophy six times.

Liverpool have recorded an incredible 7-0 victory on Ten Hag’s men on March 5, 2023.
It was Liverpool’s biggest win against United. The Reds had previously beaten Newton Heath 7-1 in October 1895.
It continued a recent dismal run for the Red Devils, who were also on the verge of losing 5-0 at Old Trafford and 4-0 on Merseyside in 2021/22.
You have to go back almost a century to find a comparable United triumph – a 6-1 win in the First Division on 5 May 1928, which remains their largest winning margin in the game.
