Last year’s runner-up Aryna Sabalenka will face sixth seed Jessica Pegula in the US Open women’s singles final on Saturday at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in New York, United States.
Two-time Australian Open champion Sabalenka beat Emma Navarro 6-3, 7-6 (2) in the semifinals.
Pegula, who will be playing in her first Grand Slam singles final, had to work hard to overcome Karolina Muchova 1-6, 6-4, 6-2. The American had also eliminated top seed Iga Swiatek in the previous round.
Saturday’s final is a repeat of the Cincinnati Masters women’s singles final on August 20, when Sabalenka beat Pegula in three sets. The Belarusian leads their encounter 5-2.
