Kylian Mbappe has closed his chapter at PSG and focused his career on his new club, Real Madrid, but the summer departure from his former home is not quite over yet.
The French superstar has struggled to get his start with Real Madrid, eventually scoring his first two La Liga goals against Real Betis last time out after going three games without a goal in his early career in Spain. Yet Real Madrid have already dropped four points and are facing an early deficit in the title race.
Mbappe’s departure from PSG is still fresh in the memory. He valiantly tried to leave the club amicably, but tensions on and off the pitch made it difficult. Today, he continues to face a dispute with the French giants even after joining another team.
A report from the French newspaper Le Monde states that Mbappe has contacted the legal department of the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) as well as the European governing body, UEFA, to resolve the situation.

The 25-year-old claims PSG owe him €55m ($60.6m/£46.5m) in unpaid wages. PSG, meanwhile, claim Mbappe waived that amount in August 2023 when he signed the final year of his contract by declining his player option.
His unpaid salary comes from the last three months of his 2023/24 salary as well as the last third of his loyalty bonus for this season.
PSG claim that Mbappe agreed to waive the payments before the season, after he was dropped from the club amid speculation he could leave for Real Madrid. At the time, PSG were hoping to sell Mbappe and avoid letting him leave for free, but the parties eventually reached an agreement and the French star played out his final season with the club.
According to the club, the terms of that agreement provided that the club was no longer obliged to make those payments.

According to a statement from Kylian Mbappé’s representatives sent to the Associated PressThe player is not willing to negotiate a compromise end to this dispute.
While Ligue 1 reportedly tried to settle the dispute, this attempt was reportedly rejected by Mbappé’s camp.
“The possibility of mediation was raised this morning,” reads the statement published in mid-September. “This possibility was dismissed during the meeting by the player’s representative. Mediation would be useless to establish a default in payment that would be visible from a simple analysis of the player’s pay slip.”
Essentially, Mbappe is saying his contract states exactly how much he is owed, and he wants PSG to pay the agreed amount.
But the club took a different approach to the situation. PSG released its own statement, saying Mbappe had made “clear and repeated public and private commitments that must be respected, having enjoyed unprecedented benefits from the club during seven fantastic years in Paris.”
