There is now video footage of the incident involving Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill and the Miami-Dade Police Department.
Body camera video of Hill’s arrest Sunday morning outside Hard Rock Stadium ahead of the Dolphins’ 2024 season opener was released Monday night. It’s the first footage of the incident since initial reports surfaced.
Hill was briefly handcuffed after being stopped for a traffic violation, but was eventually released. He was not placed under arrest and no charges were filed against him.
The star receiver played in the Miami game a few hours later, recording seven receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins’ 20-17 victory over the Jaguars.

Tyreek Hill body camera video
On Monday night, Miami-Dade police released body camera footage of the incident with Hill.
The clip begins with the officer getting off his motorcycle after pulling Hill over. The officer asks the conductor why he didn’t put on his seatbelt before Hill rolls up his window, blocking any clear communication with the officer.
After the officer repeatedly asks Hill to roll the window back up, he orders Hill to exit the vehicle. Hill can be heard on the phone with his officer, Drew Rosenhaus, before he is removed from the vehicle. The officer can be seen grabbing Hill by the head/neck and forcing him to lie face down on the ground, before placing him in handcuffs.

Officers then placed Hill in a standing position and then asked him to sit on the sidewalk. Hill resisted, claiming he had just had knee surgery and continued to complain about his knee moments later.
About six minutes into the confrontation, one of the officers is heard asking his colleague, “You know who that is, right? He’s one of the star players for the Dolphins.”
With Hill handcuffed, other Dolphins are seen approaching the scene. The other officers begin to order Miami players to back up and leave the area. One of these players is defensive end Calais Campbell, who ends up being handcuffed himself.

Another clip was released showing Hill talking to officers about the situation and what is happening.

Why was Tyreek Hill arrested?
Hill was officially cited for reckless driving and a seat belt violation after reportedly speeding on his way to Hard Rock Stadium. quote revealed he was driving at an “estimated speed of 60 MPH.”
An officer was placed on administrative leave hours after the arrest, and the Miami-Dade Police Department said it is investigating what led to the incident.
The South Florida Police Benevolent Association released more details in a statement Monday, saying Hill was never arrested but rather “briefly detained for officer safety.”
The police union said Hill “failed to immediately cooperate with officers at the scene” after he was arrested for “conducting in a manner that placed himself and others in great danger.”
Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill was “uncooperative” with police and “initiated this unfortunate incident,” according to the Miami-Dade police union.

Tyreek Hill’s comments
Hill was asked about the situation in a post-match press conference. He added his personal experience and comments, one of the most poignant being: “What if I wasn’t Tyrek Hill??”
Hill later appeared on CNN to address the incident. He called for police reform and said he wanted it to serve as a catalyst for change.

Who is Tyreek Hill’s agent?
Hill’s agent is Drew Rosenhaus, owner of Rosenhaus Sport, a Miami-based sports agency.
During an appearance on “The Dan Le Batard Show” Tuesday, Rosenhaus called for the work of officers involved in traffic stops.
“I personally think the officers who did this to Tyreek should not be in this situation – they should be released.” Rosenhaus said.
“Look at the guy who kicked him. That guy should be fired. This is out of control. The guy who jumped on him and choked him? There’s no place for a cop wearing a badge that works like that, when Tyreek wasn’t aggressive, violent or fighting back in any way.”
“It was horrible the way they treated him. They didn’t treat him like a human being.”
Rosenhaus was recently involved in negotiations over Hill’s new contract with the Dolphins. The deal is for four years and is worth $120 million, with $72.2 million fully guaranteed.
