If you’ve already watched Emily in Paris Season 4 Part 2, you know that there’s a major reason why the show’s name needs to change. But will it happen?
Our heroine has changed course in the last 24 hours: Emily in Paris has officially become Emily in Rome. Over the last two episodes of Season 4, Part 2, we see her impromptu vacation turn into a permanent job opportunity in the Italian capital.
After being rescued by a handsome stranger at the top of a mountain, Emily accidentally meets Marcello, a new lover who turns into a passionate romance this summer. At the same time, Sylvie seeks to represent the family business at the Grateau Agency.
Long story short, the couple both have professional and personal goals. The catch? Marcello’s mother, Antonia, won’t sign an account unless Emily is in charge. In the final scene, Emily leaves her new apartment to spend time with Marcello—with every intention of winning him back.
Now that Emily’s move appears to be permanent, a huge question arises: Does Emily in Paris Season 5 really have to be Emily in Rome Season 1?
Unfortunately, we don’t know the answer to this question yet. Season 5 of this hit series hasn’t even been confirmed, although there have been rumors.
Creator Darren Star has already said Jugo Mobile that if Emily in Paris season 5 gets the green light, there will be some “surprise plots” in the works from previous seasons.
While there are still some loose ends to tie up (Sylvie and Louis’ feud, Mindy’s Eurovision run), Emily doesn’t really need to stay in Rome to testify. In fact, the show could benefit from a complete change of venue.
While the first half of season 4 seemed like more of the same, the second half revitalized the Netflix series. Marcello and a change of scenery both had a positive effect on it, giving a new dimension to a format that was starting to become a bit predictable.

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by places and situations, and we have to move on. The same thing happened to Emily, and Rome was her answer. New challenges and new dramas await us in Italy, and we want to see them.
However, fans shouldn’t get too ahead of themselves. It seems that Emily is settled in Rome for now, but one red flag could bring her back to Paris: Gabriel. Given that the series is entirely designed to follow their journey, this won’t be the last time the couple is seen together.
Emily may have convinced herself she’s over Gabriel, but the writers’ room will probably think otherwise. If that’s the case – and let’s face it, it will be – we’re back to the same old situation that never went very far.
