The Brooklyn Nets continue to make roster changes ahead of a season that could completely dictate the future direction of the franchise.
Brooklyn made a blockbuster deal this offseason by sending star player Mikal Bridges to an in-state rival. Now, general manager Sean Marks has a lot of decisions to make as the team enters the season in an interesting situation.
With few proven young players on the roster and plenty of veterans, the Nets could be headed for a short sale as the trade deadline approaches.
However, the Nets keep making movements with yet another development project.
“The Brooklyn Nets are signing Yongxi “Jacky” Cui — an undrafted forward from China — to a two-way NBA contract,” The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Friday.
Cui was not selected in the 2024 NBA Draft, but he did get a chance to play in the Portland Trail Blazers’ Summer League. There, the Chinese product turned heads and earned a two-way contract with the Nets.
Prior to entering the draft, the 2.08m forward spent time in the Chinese Basketball Association, playing for the Guangzhou Loong Lions. In 99 games with the team, Cui averaged 14.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.7 steals, while shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 36.2 percent from three-point range.
