Often times, fans seem to think that NBA stars live abnormal lives, but ultimately, these talented athletes face real-world challenges just like the rest of us.
Players in the league may live luxurious lives, but at the end of the day, money can’t prevent all bad situations from happening. Unfortunately, this longtime star I found out the hard way during the weekend.
“While Timberwolves guard Mike Conley was in Minneapolis for the Minnesota Vikings’ home game Sunday, where he fired up the crowd before kickoff, his west metro home was targeted by burglars,” Paul Walsh of the Minnesota Star Tribune reported Wednesday.
“The break-in at Conley’s sprawling Medina residence occurred in the mid-afternoon and was the second of three that day by at least two suspects while the homes were unoccupied,” Police Chief Jason Nelson said.
Conley was in attendance for the Vikings’ home opener this weekend, and while the NFL team came away with a victory, the Timberwolves guard went home with some missing jewelry.
The situation is certainly unfortunate, but it could have been much worse. No one was injured in the robbery and police are actively searching for the suspects in the hope of recovering the 36-year-old’s belongings.
That said, Conley will have plenty of time to clear his head with training camp set to begin soon. With the Timberwolves hoping to get one step closer to a title this season, they’ll need their seasoned veteran to back them up from the start.
