After much anticipation, Boruto Two Blue Vortex Chapter 14 finally reveals the prototype of the fifth Shinju.
The Shinju, the main antagonists of Boruto Two Blue Vortex so far, were initially introduced as a four-member team: Hidari, Matsuri, Mamushi, and their leader Jura.
However, at the end of Chapter 13, the four Shinju left Boruto and the Konoha shinobi to welcome a new teammate, confirming the addition of a fifth (and seemingly final) Divine Tree Incarnate to their group.
This was not the first hint of a fifth Shinju. Koji Kashin’s foresight had shown a future glimpse of the God Tree Incarnates, revealing five instead of four. Notably, the final Shinju had facial markings similar to those of Gaara’s adopted son, Shinji.

However, opinions differed. Some thought that the final Shinju might have a prototype like Kakashi or Guy, given their importance. But Chapter 14 confirms that Shinji’s chakra was indeed used to create the new villain.
In this chapter, Kankuro visits Shikamaru in Konoha to inform him that Gaara and Shinji have both been defeated by the Shinju. Shinji has developed “tree disease”, meaning he transformed into a tree after his chakra was used to create the final Shinju.
The final panels show the new member being greeted as “Ryu” by Jura and the others. He bears a striking resemblance to Shinji, confirming that the black sand user is the prototype for the new villain.
Ryu will fully take on the role of the new villain in the upcoming Chapter 15, which is scheduled to release on October 20, 2024. Until then, find out the shocking truth behind Naruto’s fight with Isshiki and Masashi Kishimoto’s regrets about Sakura.
