The NFL trade deadline is fast approaching and teams are preparing their final offers to add players before time is out on November 5.

The Los Angeles Chargers could be a team in the market for another wide receiver, but in his latest round of predictions, Vinnie Iyer of The Jugo Mobile has the team snagging a different player at a completely different position. In his predictions, the Chargers make a deal with the team they just beat, the New Orleans Saints, to acquire edge rusher Chase Young

While Young has never totally lived up to his status as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, he hasn’t been bad, either. He was the Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020 and has 18.5 career sacks. He could bring great depth to any team in the pass-rushing department.

However, it would be a curious move. Joey Bosa has been hurt far too often, but the Chargers still have Tuli Tuipolotu and Bud Dupree on the roster. Bringing in Young, so long as it was cheap, would be a sensible move, but it would ignore the position where the team needs the most help: wide receiver.

Could the Chargers trade for Chase Young?

Young’s name has been mentioned frequently when discussing potential trade targets lately, so he could definitely be on the move from New Orleans after signing a one-year deal with the Saints this offseason.

Young played with the other Bosa, Nick, while with the San Francisco 49ers last season after the Washington Commanders traded him ahead of last year’s deadline. He registered 2.5 sacks with the Niners and played in the Super Bowl, but he didn’t do enough to get a new deal there.

Jim Harbaugh and Jesse Minter could likely get the most out of Young, who is still only 25 years old.
