Nunez’s current deal at the club ties him for Anfield until 2028 after joining in a £64m ($71m) from Benfica in June 2022.
The Uruguayan has struggled for consistency on Merseyside, with just 20 EPL goal split across his first two seasons, under Jurgen Klopp.
Slot has relied on him even less in 2024/25, with just seven league starts and two goals scored, at the half-way stage in the campaign.
Reports indicate Liverpool are open to offers in the region of £45m ($55m) which would represent a significant loss on their original outlay for the 25-year-old.
Slot’s view on Nunez looks clear, with Salah, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo all ahead of him in the attacking pecking order, and the former Feyenoord boss losing faith over his adaptation to the new system at Liverpool.
Newcastle United could be tempted into an offer, either in January or the summer, depending on the Magpies receiving a mega-money offer for star striker Alexander Isak.
