Chelsea fans will be delighted by the news of Joao Pedro joining the Blues and bolstering their forwardline.
As per reports by Fabrizio Romano, the young Brazilian has sealed a move to Stamford Bridge after Chelsea reached an agreement with Brighton to pay the transfer fee of over £50m.
Pedro’s medical is scheduled on Tuesday, and he is reportedly travelling to the United States to join the Chelsea squad for the second half of the Club World Cup.
The 23-year-old was chased by Newcastle United, but their bids were rejected by Brighton as the Brazilian only had an inclination towards Chelsea.
The Blues are all set to wrap up the deals of Jamie Gittens from Dortmund, along with Pedro from Brighton, this week as they push for a deep run in the Club World Cup in preparation for the upcoming season.
Although he is young, Pedro comes with Premier League experience. He has featured in 89 matches in the English top flight for Watford, followed by Brighton.

Pedro also played in the Championship with Watford after they got relegated from the Premier League. In two seasons at Brighton, he had developed into a versatile forward.

Pedro is completely different from Chelsea’s long list of offensive players. He provides Enzo Maresca with a lot of flexibility in the final third.
He is someone who can play all across the forward line and even as a number 9. His technical ability, movement and passing range help him create goals for his teammates.
The 23-year-old is all set to take up the half-space role behind a primary striker in Delap. He could play the role of linking the midfield with the forwards.
The Brazilian finished the 2024/25 Premier League campaign with 10 goals and six assists from 27 games. He was the joint-top scorer for Brighton last season alongside Danny Welbeck and Kaoru Mitoma.
As per FBref, Pedro averaged 3.33 shot-creating actions, 3.60 progressive passes, 3.05 progressive carries, and 1.34 successful take-ons per 90 in the 2023/24 campaign.
His link-up play ability and passing range in the final third have drawn comparisons with Roberto Firmino in his peak years at Liverpool under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp.
With Gittens and Pedro almost done, Chelsea are off to a fantastic start this summer. The Blues may now focus on offloading a few players before looking at the market again.
