Here’s what to know about Trump announcing the location of the 2027 NFL Draft.

President Donald Trump NFL Draft announcement

Axios reported Sunday that Trump, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Commanders owner Josh Harris would announce Monday that the Commanders plan to host the 2027 NFL Draft.

They would “aim” to host the event on the National Mall, according to Axios, and the Monday announcement was expected to come at the White House.

The NFL Draft would not be held in the Commanders’ stadium, which is currently in Maryland. Despite plans to build a new stadium in D.C., the new stadium wouldn’t be open until 2030.

Trump recently called the Commanders’ plan to return to D.C. a “huge win” for the city and is now set to play a significant role in announcing some more big news for the franchise.

Where will the 2027 NFL Draft take place?

The 2027 NFL Draft will reportedly be held in Washington D.C., although not in the Commanders’ stadium. Based on Axios’ reporting, the plan is to hold the draft at the National Mall. Currently, they are expecting 1 million fans to attend the event.

Before then, the 2026 NFL Draft is set to be hosted by Pittsburgh.

The Commanders, just around a week removed from the announcement of a plan to return to D.C. and build a brand-new stadium by 2030, are set to be at the forefront of the 2027 NFL offseason.

In news separate from their NFL Draft announcement, the Commanders are also planning a return to Washington D.C. after nearly three decades playing in Maryland. Last week, the team announced it had reached an agreement with the District of Columbia to construct a new stadium on the site of the former RFK Stadium in D.C.

With the goal of opening in fall 2030, the stadium would have a roof, seat 65,000 and cost around $2.7 billion to build. Here’s a look at the early renderings of the stadium design:?️
