As the Kansas City Chiefs look to turn the page on 2024, perhaps the defense could use an infusion of star talent.
The Kansas City defense was solid, if not spectacular, this past season. Compared to championship Chiefs teams of the past, the secondary was a bit undermanned, which was largely because cornerback L’Jarius Sneed left the previous spring in free agency.
The Chiefs have made some moves to improve at the corner spots since the season ended. They signed former Los Angeles Chargers veteran Kristian Fulton in free agency and drafted Nohl Williams out of the University of California in the third round.
However, one football writer believes the Chiefs could swing bigger and go after a former two-time Pro Bowler.
On Tuesday, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox named the Chiefs as a potential trade destination for Green Bay Packers star Jaire Alexander, who has missed half of his team’s games due to injury over the past two seasons.
“The Packers are “in the market to trade” Alexander, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. While he may not accept a pay cut to get a deal done, Green Bay will likely deal him for the right price,” Knox wrote.

“Alexander’s trade market might primarily be teams that believe they can contend in 2025 and are willing to take a chance on his health. (The Kansas City Chiefs are) a potential landing spot for Alexander, and they didn’t add a cornerback in the draft before taking Nohl Williams in Round 3.”
Alexander has been a star in the league when he’s been healthy and focused. But he’s been an off-field distraction at times, and the injuries have made him tough to trade, given his $84 million contract that runs through 2026.
Could this be an interesting buy-low opportunity for the Chiefs? General manager Brett Veach may already know the answer if he’s contacted his counterpart in Green Bay.
