IO Interactive’s James Bond game, titled 007 First Light, got a first look trailer during the June 4 State of Play presentation. The Hitman developers announced development on the IP back in 2020, confirming that the game will feature an original story while being built using the Glacier Engine. And now, nearly five years later, the Danish studio have dropped a first-look trailer showing off their reimaging of Ian Fleming’s character.

007 First Light sees a 26-year-old James Bond take his first steps into the secretive world of spies and sabotage after an audacious act of bravery lands him on MI6’s radar. The fresh-faced Navy crewman undergoes a challenging training program before he’s sent out on a globetrotting adventure spanning glacial peaks, exotic beaches, and lush woodlands.

The reveal trailer provided a glimpse at some of his escapades, ranging from night-club shootouts to being suspended over a pit of alligators. It also looked at his fellow agents, some of whom bear familiar codenames such as M, Q, and Moneypenny. In addition to this, we also spotted some tasteful brand placement, including Omega watches and 007’s signature Aston Martin.

As for the meat and bones of the title, the gameplay veers more in the direction of Uncharted than Hitman, featuring sprawling shooting galleries, thrilling setpieces, and intense chase sequences. Stealth remains a crucial element of the game as players can utilize various high-tech gizmos to get the drop on enemies. Thematically, that distinct 007 vibe was present throughout the trailer, so any concerns you had about the title’s tone can be put to rest.

IO Interactive confirmed that 007 First Light will be released sometime in 2026, and that the game will utilize PSSR on PS5 Pro while delivering 60 FPS in the Quality Mode.

That wraps up everything to know about the 007 First Light reveal. What did you make of the debut trailer? Let us know in the comments.
