The Miami Dolphins continue to navigate the trade market as the offseason moves forward. With several potential moves on the horizon, a full roster overhaul could eventually be in play. If the Dolphins fail to win games this season, a complete rebuild seems increasingly likely.
One name expected to be moved soon is veteran cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who has reportedly been in agreement on a trade since the beginning of summer. However, money remains a sticking point — and the Dolphins aren’t willing to budge.
“The Dolphins appear unwilling to take on any of Jalen Ramsey’s guaranteed money to facilitate a trade. Teams are very interested in trading for Ramsey, but don’t want to take on his full contract. This is the current hold up,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported.
The draft picks being projected as a return for Ramsey are underwhelming and far below Miami’s expectations.
“If those were the best offers on the table, the Dolphins would walk away with just a sixth or seventh-round pick at best for Ramsey. If the Dolphins return for Ramsey falls within that range, of a sixth or seventh-round pick, there would likely be a lot of disappointment in Miami,” Athlon Sports’ Matthew Sullivan wrote.
While a reunion with a contender like the Los Angeles Rams seems logical, CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin believes Ramsey will more likely land with a young team led by an established coach.

“A reunion with the Los Angeles Rams makes the most sense from a title-chasing perspective, but if it’s compensation that ultimately seals the deal here, a move to Sin City feels right up Ramsey’s alley; the Las Vegas Raiders are flush with salary cap space, and coach Pete Carroll is all about physical defense. Prediction: Traded to Las Vegas Raiders for a 2026 fifth-round pick,” Benjamin wrote.
Carroll has built elite defenses in the past, and adding Ramsey would be a major boost for the Raiders’ secondary. The only question is whether the Dolphins are willing to accept a fifth-round pick in return and Las Vegas wants to pay this year’s $24 million guarantee in full.
