The Saudi Pro League heavyweights have started talking with the 25-year-old’s entourage over a potential switch.
Isak has agreed to open negotiations, as he and his representatives will speak with Al Hilal, discussing the financial terms of the deal.
Newcastle United reportedly have slapped a whopping €130m ($151m) on their star marksman.
What did Isak’s agent say about his future destination?
Before Al Hilal pushed for Isak, Liverpool were deeply interested in bringing the Swede to Anfield this summer as they were desperately looking for a striker.
However, after understanding Newcastle’s demands, they shifted their focus to Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike and reportedly have convinced the Frenchman to make the switch to Merseyside.
Isak’s future at St. James Park isn’t guaranteed, as plenty of clubs have shown interest in him this summer.
Therefore, Al Hilal prominently remain in the race to sign the 25-year-old following a cryptic statement from the player’s agent, Gonzalo Gaitan.
“We are indeed studying and analysing all options, and we may be close to finalising the next step for the player without revealing any details regarding whether Isak will transfer or stay with Newcastle,” Gonzalo Gaitan told Saudi newspaper Arriyadiyah.
Interestingly, the Public Investment Fund (PIF) that took over Newcastle United also owns Al Hilal, so netizens are already smelling something fishy about this reported interest.
Al Hilal have the financial muscle to sign Isak, and it remains to be seen if they agree to fulfil Newcastle United’s demands.
The Sweden international has netted 25-plus goals in his last two campaigns for the Magpies, and that is only a single part of his well-rounded playing style.
