Manchester United have apparently stepped away from the race to sign Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, as the summer transfer saga surrounding the Swedish forward continues to twist and turn.

With Liverpool preparing a record-breaking bid and interest brewing from the Middle East, United have decided not to join the bidding war, as per Daily Mail.

Instead, the club is focusing on more realistic targets after already spending heavily this summer.

Isak, who scored 21 goals last season, is keen to leave Newcastle. But with the Magpies reportedly valuing him around £150 million, United simply can’t afford to get into a tug-of-war with Liverpool — especially with no Champions League football to sweeten the deal.

As per the same reports, Chelsea have also ruled themselves out, leaving Liverpool with a clear path if they choose to push forward.

United, meanwhile, have spent over £130 million on Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

With Financial Fair Play limits in mind and no European spotlight to offer, Old Trafford isn’t quite the dream destination it once was — at least not for £150 million-rated strikers.

Why Man Utd backed out of Alexander Isak transfer race?

It’s not just about the price. Sources close to United say the club is wary of overpaying for a player they were never front-runners for.

While Isak’s talent is clear, the club feels other areas need investment first.

Ollie Watkins was briefly considered, but Aston Villa made it clear he’s not available. Benjamin Sesko, at around £60 million, is another name discussed, though even that fee could be a stretch.

As for Isak, United believe their name may have been used to inflate the price — a common tactic during heated transfer windows.

For now, it’s a no-go from Manchester.
