The 2025 season for the Cincinnati Bengals has been a tough one. From the Week 2 Joe Burrow injury to the 4-10 record and elimination from playoff contention after a 24-0 blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens, this season is one to forget.
Amid the Bengals’ struggles in 2025, there have been some questions about whether his future in Cincinnati and the NFL in general is a guarantee.
But, during his Wednesday press conference, as Jake Liscow of Locked On Bengals shared, Burrow shut down those rumors and emphasized his desire to keep playing.

“It feels like everyone is doing everything in their power to make me not play football, and I feel like I’m fighting it,” Burrow said. “I expect to play for a long time, expect to be consistently great for a long time.”
Burrow is hearing the noise from outside the organization, but even though his comments from a week ago left some wondering about his NFL future, Burrow has no plans to retire anytime soon.
He’s eager to compete, and at a high level. Burrow is 29 years old, made the Super Bowl, and is a two-time Pro Bowler who’s been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL since his 2020 rookie season.

Burrow is the all-time leader in completion percentage with a 68.2 career completion percentage on 2,704 passing attempts. His 19,960 passing yards and 148 touchdowns are both strong marks, as he’s carving out an impressive career so far.
But, through the first six seasons of his career, Burrow has only made the playoffs twice, and since 2022, the Bengals haven’t returned yet.
Things have been rough this season thanks to the 10-week turf toe absence, but Burrow is trying to bounce back from that injury and is planning to remain in Cincinnati for the long haul.
Even with things in a bad spot, Burrow is still planning to play for a long time. Those retirement rumors can be put on hold, as Burrow doesn’t plan to stop playing for a long time.
