The Green Bay Packers claimed cornerback Trevon Diggs off waivers Tuesday, reuniting him with former teammate Micah Parsons following Diggs’ release from the Dallas Cowboys.
Parsons took to social media to celebrate the reunion, sharing a photo of the two players swapping jerseys, hinting at their joint push for the playoffs. The star linebacker, who joined Green Bay in a historic trade on Aug. 28 involving two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark, captioned the post:
“We’re back….”

The Packers, currently at 9-6-1, strengthened their secondary with the acquisition of the two-time Pro Bowler, filling gaps left by injured players Nate Hobbs (knee) and Kamal Hadden (ankle). Diggs is expected to be eligible for the Week 18 regular-season finale against the Minnesota Vikings and the ensuing postseason.
The transaction follows the Cowboys’ surprise decision to waive Diggs on Monday amid a “tumultuous” 2025 season. Reports indicate friction between Diggs and the front office regarding his rehabilitation process away from the facility and a concussion allegedly sustained while installing a television at home.

Tensions peaked following the Cowboys’ Christmas Day game against the Washington Commanders. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer denied Diggs’ request to stay in D.C. with family, ordering him to return to Dallas with the team. Diggs remained in Washington, where he was later seen at a concert for rapper Shy Glizzy.
NFL Network’s Jane Slater reported that while Diggs disobeyed travel orders, he provided timestamps – including a post from his son, Aiden Diggs – proving he spent time with his family as claimed.
“Things can get spun but bottom line? Team wanted him to return back with team postgame to Dallas and fly back to Washington area on his own,” Slater wrote. “He didn’t.
“That clearly pushed an already tenuous situation but the end was inevitable and he ultimately made a choice and the team made theirs but it doesn’t mean he’s a liar.”

The release ends the $97 million contract extension Diggs signed in 2023.
The image Parsons shared originated from a Sept. 28 tie between the two teams at AT&T Stadium. The jerseys featured handwritten messages, with Parsons writing “Love you forever… Stay Blessed” and Diggs inscribing “To my brother… proud of you.”
