The Cleveland Browns are searching for their new head coach after firing Kevin Stefanski earlier this offseason. While it’s not going to be a short process, there have been some moves made this offseason already.
John Harbaugh went to the New York Giants, Robert Saleh is with the Tennessee, and Stefanski is with the Atlanta Falcons. But the most noteworthy loss so far was Mike McDaniel pulling his name from consideration for the Browns HC job.
But that’s not the last time such a coaching decision was made. According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, another top coaching candidate for the Browns job has pulled his name from the running.

“Breaking: Chargers DC Jesse Minter is not interviewing for the Browns HC job today as scheduled,” Cabot reports, “likely because he feels like he has other HC opportunities that are more certain, sources tell clevelanddotcom.”
This report from Cabot is some unfortunate news for the Browns. Minter is one of the best coaches left in this hiring cycle, and would’ve been a great hire to pair with a strong defense.
While Cleveland needs a lot more than just a strong defense, as seen by their 2025 production, Minter is one of the top candidates and would’ve been a nice hire.
But, just like how McDaniel pulled his name from the running, Minter is no longer an option for the Browns this offseason.

Minter will likely find a different head coaching job, potentially in the division with the Baltimore Ravens, but based on this update, it won’t be in Cleveland.
Seeing multiple top head coaching candidates back out of the Browns’ job doesn’t bode well for the Browns. While there are better opportunities still available around the league, this is still not a good look.
There are still some interesting candidates, namely Nate Scheelhaase and Grant Udinski, but as of now, nothing is certain, and the Browns have seen multiple candidates pull their name from consideration for the Browns job this offseason.
