The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback situation remains unsolved after the 2025 NFL Draft, as the team passed on multiple opportunities to select a quarterback on the first two days and opted to add Ohio State’s Will Howard in Round 6 on Day 3.
Though Howard has some promise, the 23-year-old isn’t capable of being a starting signal-caller yet and needs some time to develop.
Obviously, it’s clear that the Steelers are banking on Aaron Rodgers to eventually sign with them. The 41-year-old has been linked to Pittsburgh since the first day of free agency in March and even visited the franchise’s facility.
However, Rodgers has taken his time to make a decision, and based on his appearance at the Kentucky Derby, we may have to wait a bit longer.
On Saturday, the NBC broadcast of the Kentucky Derby caught Rodgers watching the action.

Obviously, Rodgers enjoying a nice day at the derby has nothing to do with his NFL future and the timetable for when he could finally make a decision. However, he did confirm during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show back in April that he’s more focused on his personal life than football right now.
“I’m open to anything and attached to nothing. Retirement could still be a possibility, but right now my focus has been — and will continue to be — on my personal life. And that’s what I’ve told the coaches. There’s still conversations that are being had. It’s all been very honest lines of communication,” Rodgers said while on the Pat McAfee Show on April 17.
We’ll see when Rodgers officially decides his future, but it’s clear that football isn’t the most important aspect of his life right now. Despite all of this, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler does believe that Rodgers will sign with Pittsburgh at some point.
